Risk of severe weather Monday evening
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) – Warmer-than-average temperatures continue from Sunday evening through Monday. A mild southwesterly wind ahead of a strong cold front will again increase highs through the 1970s on Monday afternoon.
Showers, showers and a few thunderstorms occur from west to east late Monday afternoon. A few storms can pack a punch, with destructive winds being the main threat! The overall risk of hail and flooding is very low. The threat of a tornado is low. But not a zero chance. The best timing is 5:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. West to East. Keep checking for updates.
A strong low will form off the mid-Atlantic coast on Tuesday morning. This will cause gusty winds to the area for the day.
Seasonal and dry with sunny Wednesday.
Tracking the progress of another storm system arriving from the west by the end of Thursday. This system will provide more chances of rain and cooler daytime temperatures.
Periods of rain and likely Friday and Saturday. Rain totals for the week will vary from half an inch to two and a half inches.
Trend drier in time for Halloween next Sunday.
Sunday evening: Partly cloudy and mild. Low 55-60 degrees. Light breeze from the south.
Monday: Partly sunny and warm. From the highs of the mid to upper 70s. South breeze.
Monday evening: Showers in the evening, showers and a few built-in thunderstorms. Destructive winds cannot be ruled out. Rainfall after midnight. Low less than 50 years.
Tuesday: Partly sunny and windy. Highs in the 1960s. Winds from the northwest at times gusting. Low over 40 years.
Wednesday: Sun, lighter and seasonal breeze. Treble mid to upper 60s. Lower over 40.
Thursday: Increased clouds. Showers at the end of the day and mainly on Thursday evening. The highs are lower than the 60s. Low lower than the 50s.
Friday: Rain showers. The highs are lower than the 60s. Low lower than the 50s.
Saturday: Partly cloudy with a few showers. From upper 50s highs to lower 60s. Lows over 40.
Sunday: Partly sunny. Highs in the mid-60s.
