(META), Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) – New Metaverse ETF Launched from Roundhill Investments: What Investors Need to Know
Roundhill Investments launches its latest pure-play ETF on Wednesday, June 30, with one ETF covering the growing metaverse market.
ETF: Launch in partnership with Matthieu Boule, Roundhill Investments announce the news Roundhill Ball Metaverse ETF (NYSE: META).
The ETF will be the first exchange traded product to offer exposure to the growing Metaverse market.
“The metaverse is widely understood as a successor state to today’s mobile Internet, but which will involve countless interoperable and persistent virtual worlds, will also be richly integrated into the physical world, thus creating a new medium and a new economy for work, leisure and innovation, ”said Roundhill Investments.
The ETF will track the Ball Metaverse Index, managed by a new indexing and research firm led by Ball, a leading metaverse researcher.

Why Metaverse: The ETF will provide investors with exposure to the main categories of the metaverse and to companies that derive a high share of the industry’s revenue.
“We see the emergence of the metaverse as as transformative and valuable as the emergence of the mobile Internet and the fixed Internet that preceded it,” said Ball. “It will likely affect all industries and professions, expanding and / or disrupting today’s leaders and leading to countless new businesses and technologies. “
Bloomberg estimates the market size of Metaverse at $ 800 billion, providing a significant opportunity for investors, Roundhill said.

ETF Securities: Among the companies included in the ETF will be GPU companies like NVIDIA, virtual platform providers like Tencent Holdings. ADR (OTC: TCEHY) and Roblox Corp (NYSE: RBLX), cloud computing services like Fastly Inc (NYSE: FSLY) and game engines like Unity Software Inc (NYSE: U).
“Stocks are included and weighted based on their exposure to seven identified sub-categories, including virtual world, payments and compute,” Hershey told Benzinga.

- Jerry heinz, vice-president of cybersecurity startup ActZero and formerly at NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA), Tinder and Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN).
- Jacob Novak, co-founder and CEO of Genvid Technologies, formerly of Square Enix Holdings.
- Jesse walden, Managing Partner of Variant Fund, formerly Partner of Andreessen Horowitz Crypto Fund.
- Jonathan glick, former SVP at the New York Times Company (NYSE: NYT).
- Anna Sweet, CEO of Bad Robot Games, formerly Facebook Inc (NASDAQ: FB) Oculus and Valve.
- Imran Sarwar, co-producer of Grand Theft Auto V, Grand Theft Auto Online and Red Dead Redemption 2 with Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc (NASDAQ: TTWO).
Other Roundhill ETFs: The Metaverse pure play ETF comes from Roundhill Investments, a company that first launched several pure play ETFs in the market with sectoral accents.
Other Roundhill ETFs include the Roundhill BITKRAFT Esports and Digital Entertainment ETF (NYSE: NERD), Roundhill Streaming Services and Technology ETF (NYSE: SUBZ), Sports betting ETF and iGaming Roundhill (NYSE: BETZ) and Roundhill MVP ETF (NYSE: MVP).
NERD shares have risen 127% in the past year and the ETF is approaching $ 100 million in assets under management, according to the company’s website.
BETZ shares have risen 100% since its launch in June 2020 and the ETF has over $ 420 million in assets under management.
SUBZ launched in February 2021 and has $ 37 million in assets. MVP launched in March 2021 and manages nearly $ 10 million in assets.
“Thematic ETFs allow investors to express specific sector or thematic views without taking on idiosyncratic risk. Purity of the theme is therefore essential – investors don’t want the right thesis but the wrong returns,” Hershey told Benzinga .
Roundhill plans to launch more pure ETFs in the future, with Hershey telling Benzinga that there are “a few in the works right now”.
