Minnesota's nursery and landscape companies are part of a $2.1 billion industry. The Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association (MNLA) is the state’s largest horticultural trade association. The organization was originally formed in 1925 as the Minnesota State Nurseryman’s Association. In 1988, the organization’s name was changed to the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association to accurately reflect the diversity of its members. Today, 1,500 firms are members of MNLA in the following categories:

Members receive regular communication on association activities through a monthly newsletter. Each industry segment implements on-going continuing education programs that are held at the Minnesota Green Expo in January. Additional education programs are planned for the winter and fall. In cooperation with the University of Minnesota, the association sponsors the MNLA Certified Professional program. MNLA also publishes the “Plants for Outdoor Living” color catalogs: Trees and Shrubs, Perennials, and Annuals. MNLA has a presence at the Minnesota State Fair and the Spring Home and Garden Show.
